I'm an army wife, working mom of 2 kids.! My husband Tim is a Soldier In the army. I work for MWR for the Community Recreation Division as an admin assistant...I absolutely LOVE my job I couldn't have found anything better! My daughter, Kennedie, was born in January of 04 and our son, Cale, was born June of 09. Kennedie is VERY involved in dancing, she is in her 11th season (2019-2020) of being a competitive dancer. It's exhausting but we LOVE it. Cale is starting to REALLY get into sports. He is on a year round wrestling team, and he plays baseball in the spring! This blog started out as a recipe sharing venture but now it's going to turn into a more "granola" way to live. Cheap recipes more homemade recipes and re-purposing things. I'm a crafter at heart so I'm going to throw some of that in there too! On Valentines Day of 2017 we bought our first Travel Trailer. I'll be documenting our travels also on this blog!

crock pot apple cider

This is fairly easy and nothing to it - just buy the store bought apple cider in the juice section - in our commissary near the holidays I've found the cider in the produce section.  I just take nutmeg, gloves, and cinnamon and put them in a coffee filter and tie it off really good.  Then I take the other end it tie it to the top of the crock pot so it doesn't get lost in the cider and burn at the bottom of the pot.
Depending on how much time you have put it on high or low and once it's hot it's ready to serve - i like to put mine on low for 2 hours before serving - the aroma it gives off while "cooking" is delicious!  Be careful this is HOT when you serve it...once you have it "cooked" I would recommend keeping it on warm.
(I forgot to take a picture of when the pot was full so you'll see some of the spice that have seeped out of the bag floating)

Crockpot Chicken

Ingredients and instructions:

Use any type of chicekn (i've always had success with bone - in chicken)
Use spray butter to coat chicken to your liking and sprinkle with your favorite spices (i used season all and garlic salt)
cook for 4-5 hours on high
check for doneness before serving

Crockpot mashed potatoes

I used 5 potatoes for this small crockpot.

Ingredients:
peel and cut enough potatoes for your family (i used my apple corer peeler slicer to make this easy!)
spray inside of crockpot with cooking spray (i used my pampered chef spritzer with olive oil)
put potatoes inside crockpot
cut 1/4 cup of butter into peices and place ontop of potatoes

cook for 4.5 hours on high, when potatoes are tender and ready to mash add the normal ingredients you would to make them and mash them all together!

i added some milk, more butter, and some chicken drippings from the chicken i was making in the crockpot next to it!
