I'm an army wife, working mom of 2 kids.! My husband Tim is a Soldier In the army. I work for MWR for the Community Recreation Division as an admin assistant...I absolutely LOVE my job I couldn't have found anything better! My daughter, Kennedie, was born in January of 04 and our son, Cale, was born June of 09. Kennedie is VERY involved in dancing, she is in her 11th season (2019-2020) of being a competitive dancer. It's exhausting but we LOVE it. Cale is starting to REALLY get into sports. He is on a year round wrestling team, and he plays baseball in the spring! This blog started out as a recipe sharing venture but now it's going to turn into a more "granola" way to live. Cheap recipes more homemade recipes and re-purposing things. I'm a crafter at heart so I'm going to throw some of that in there too! On Valentines Day of 2017 we bought our first Travel Trailer. I'll be documenting our travels also on this blog!

Fort Benning Independance Day Celebration

I'm the first person to tell you that I LOVE MY JOB!  I work for the best MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) ANY of the Army Installations have!!  Our team knocks it out of the park every event they have!  This last weekend I worked the annual Independence Day Celebration.  I signed up to be a backstage runner.  They said "we need someone that is peppy and energetic" everyone at that meeting looked right at me.  (I won't lie, it felt great that they all thought of me that way).

I arrived at 2 and the event started at 4.

Picture of the stage, I think this was 3 Doors Down doing their sound check.
After I got my pass that let me in and out of the building the artists were housed in, and the back stage fenced closed off area.

While we were waiting for more instructions, and watching the doors (I ended up being more security/bouncer at the end once all the artists got all their food and ice) Big and Rich and Cowboy Troy walked into to do their meet and greet.
I wasn't able to get a picture of 3 Doors Down, mostly because when they were walking by I didn't know it was them!! Ugh and they were just in regular clothes nothing spectacular so I wouldn't have even thought it was them.

But I was able to get up close to the stage when Flo Rida was on stage because there wasn't much left to do after he went on stage.  I ended up having to bounce some girls that hopped a fence when someone wasn't looking. #secuuuuuurrrrity

Because this was Fort Benning Centennial Year - our first works display was bigger than in years past.  Which it's always done HUGE, so I didn't know how they were going to top it!  Oh but they did!! The MCoE Band played right along with the choreographed fireworks display.  It was amazing! #merica

My husband took the kids to a swimming hole earlier that morning and when they got home they were beat, so Kennedie was the only one awake so she watched the fireworks show via FaceTime.

If you are ever in our area I would strongly encourage you to come check out all that Fort Benning has to offer for Independence Day.  Whats best about it is that we do our events the weekend before 4th of July so that people don't have to make the choice on where to go!!
