About Me

I'm an army wife, working mom of 2 kids.! My husband Tim is a Soldier In the army. I work for MWR for the Community Recreation Division as an admin assistant...I absolutely LOVE my job I couldn't have found anything better! My daughter, Kennedie, was born in January of 04 and our son, Cale, was born June of 09. Kennedie is VERY involved in dancing, she is in her 11th season (2019-2020) of being a competitive dancer. It's exhausting but we LOVE it. Cale is starting to REALLY get into sports. He is on a year round wrestling team, and he plays baseball in the spring! This blog started out as a recipe sharing venture but now it's going to turn into a more "granola" way to live. Cheap recipes more homemade recipes and re-purposing things. I'm a crafter at heart so I'm going to throw some of that in there too! On Valentines Day of 2017 we bought our first Travel Trailer. I'll be documenting our travels also on this blog!

Thred-up Goody Box #3

I just LOVE these boxes.  I opened this one up at the dance studio with my dance mom friends and everyone liked the stuff I got!  One mom liked one so much she took it to the bathroom to try it on!! I got a TON of Lilly stuff too!!!  If I kept everything in the box (which thankfully I won't - some of the stuff isn't my style) I would be paying about $300.00 - the invoice said I was saving $1026 off the retail price!!
I wore this the very next day that I received my box.  This Lilly shirt was the first thing I saw when I opened up the box.  LOVE IT!  Kept: $17.99 (TU retail $71)
This GREAT BCBG Maxazria shirt Keep: $27.99 (TU retail: $198)
 Closer view of the top.
I absolutely loved these JCrew shorts!!!  I loved the ruffle at the top and the ruffle at the pockets!
 Kept: $12.99 (TU retail: $36)
I've never heard of this brand but it's SO soft and very easy to wash and wear!  Mountain Khaki's - looks like it's from Jackson Hole, WY.  It's great heathered blue color. Kept: $19.99 (TU retail: $119)

These are what I decided to send back:
These Lilly wool pants.  1. The wide leg isn't my style, and 2. They are wool and we live in Georgia.  They are listed as "Linen Pants" on my invoice - but they are very heavy and thick.
Sent back: $28.99 (TU retail: $179)
Lilly Pulitzer Dress.  I LOVED IT but it was VERY short and I just don't know when I would wear it.
Regretfully sent back: $34.99 (TU retail: $143)
Lilly P cardigan: I loved it.  Didn't love the price.
Sent back: $30.99 (TU retail: $179)
Calypso By Christiane Celle.  Again I just don't know where I would wear this dress.  It's SO CUTE but the fabric is tafetta-esk and feels to formal for work.
Another regretful send back: $18.99 (TU retail: $48)
Lilly P (they NAILED my Lilly love this package).
This was just out of my price range for a tank top.  Sent back: $38.99 (TU retail: $179)
Cute dress - the stripes aren't my style.  I wish this was all mint colored - because that back bow is cute!! (this is a picture of the back of the dress, the front is just plain).  Sent back this Coveted Clothing dress: $16.99 (TU retail: $48)
Lilly belt.  I don't wear these types of belts sent back: $31.99. (TU retail: $107)

I kept $68 worth of stuff.  I calculated this box would have cost $280.89 and thred up is telling me I would have saved $1,026 off retail.

Thred-up Rescue Box

I saw a blogger I follow try a rescue box.  She tried the 50 shirts for $100.00 box I believe.  I'm not much of a gambler so I didn't want to dedicate $100.00 for a few shirts I might like.  When I was looking at the app on my phone last month I decided to look into the rescue box.  I found that there were SEVERAL varieties of boxes.  I found the "classic" box that had 10 name brands such as Ann Taylor, JCrew, Banana Republic, Loft...things in that same brand style.  It was $44 with $6 shipping.  BUT for a limited time you can use the code "RESCUE" and save the $5.99 shipping!  It came about 10 days ago and I'm trying to take pictures as I wear the items which is why it's taken me so long to blog about it.

Three things I KNEW I wasn't into went into my "take to clothes mentor" pile, and two I wanted to keep but couldn't because of fit.  If I can't make money off of them from Clothes Mentor then they will donate them for me.
While this dress was cute, the tie at the top wasn't me.  Had it been a straight neck I probably would have kept it.
Close up of the fabric on the top.

This red pencil skirt was VERY bright.  I don't think I would have ever worn this.
It had a great texture to it though.  Just wish it wasn't so BRIGHT!
I wish I would have gotten a closer picture of the "beads".  The beads are wood looking, they clanked when you held the shirt...that would have made me crazy after wearing it for even a short time.
I originally had this in my keep pile.  I put it on that morning and realized it was way too big on me (even at a small), and was SO see through.  (enjoy my just woke up face!)

NOT PICTURED: an Ann Taylor basic black pencil skirt.  Tried it on and, yeah no that wasn't going to work!

What I kept:
This great shirt.  The material was not quite a sweater but not quite a t shirt...it was great!
It was almost embroidered ribbon looking - totally my style.
The shirt AND the skirt I got in the box.  I didn't have a khaki skirt - so I was excited to get it.
The long sleeve shirt is GREAT - I can wear this with colored jeggings as well. It's a great work shirt.
This JCrew skirt is also great!!  It's a wool material - but I can make it work for one last time in the spring and then it won't come out again till fall/winter.  But it's SUPER comfortable.
I was worried about this waist band cutting into me - but it actually lays very nice and doesn't feel uncomfortable at all!!!
It has a great herringbone pattern.  Very neutral color (it's more of a charcoal color than this light grey it looks like in this picture)

In the end I kept 5 of the 10 things sent in the box.  The price of the box was $44 and the shipping was $5.99.  So in the end I paid $9.99 for each of the 5 pieces I kept, and I still might recoup some of that money when I try to sell 5 to clothes mentor this week!

Thred Up Goody Box Review

I decided to try a Thred Up Goody Box.  It was a $10 deposit for a box of 8-10 things.  Per the instructions in the email I got I started favoriting a lot of clothing in their app. This helps them figure out what to send you.
So excited to open and see my goodies!!!

The paper inside that shows how much everything is.  It also lets you know how to return.  If you keep $75 they give you $10 off your next order.  I'm posting the retail price with the price Thred Up has it listed for.  I haven't gone and done ANY research to see if the retail price is correct.
Already loved what I saw when I opened the box, and it was just the top!!

First thing already had a price tag on it!  It was brand spanking new!!!
First up this Lily Pulitzer sweater!!  I really wanted to keep this.  It was a thin sweater and very soft - but it was $28.99 (retails for $143) and what little spring we get is right around the corner and then we are thrown into summer!
I also have on this GREAT navy skirt.  It is Crown and Ivy brand (I've seen this at Belk and I'm not sure if it's a Belk Store brand or not but I've never seen it any where else.  It's like a working girls Lily Pulitzer.  I can have the Lily look without the price tag!)  I have several Crown and Ivy pieces!
It was a sateen fabric with a great ribbed detail, WITH POCKETS!!!  I totally kept this (and wore it to work Monday!) $9.99 (retails $36)

I kept the sweater on the try on these Crown and Ivy shorts.  I love the pattern and they fit great.  Kept: $11.99 (retail $36)
Another Crown and Ivy item is this sweater (also with original price tag).  I put it on and fell in love!  Kept this!  $6.99 (retails $13 - which it was marked as clearance on the tag for $13.99 I believe FULL retail price was around $30-40)
This is why favoriting items is important.  I favorited all the Lily P stuff I had my eyes on.  I have a bunch of shorts "hearted" in the app.  These white eyelet with scallop edge was one of them (see picture above for entire short picture).  Tried them on and they fit PERFECT!  Kept these: $18.99 (retail $71) (I usually spend $22-$25 for LP shorts at Clothes Mentor so these were a great price for me!
I was on the fence about this dress.  I LOVED it and it fit, but the straps aren't adjustable.  I tried to untie and re-tie but they are sewn at the knot.  BUT the straps can come off completely.  I ended up keeping this NEW WITH TAGS dress by Market and Spruce (Stitch Fix sends this brand A LOT!) $20.99 (retail $71)
 Great embroidery down the sleeves.
This dress was just ok.   The fabric was soft and sturdy (wouldn't blow around in the wind), but it was too short to wear to work.  It nailed me on the scallop trim again! The brand of this dress was "Crescent"  Sent this back: $18.99 (retail $71)
I don't usually like Maxi dresses OR strapless ones.  It was WAY too long for me.  I sent this "Unbranded" dress back: $27.99 (retail $115)
You guys know I love Lularoe - the Kimono was NEVER my favorite piece they have.  The style isn't me AT ALL, sent back: $19.99 (retail $40)
These shorts fit great but I have a pair similar to them! "Boden" brand.  Sent back: $18.99 (retail $49)
I didn't get this dress with my Goody Box - but it is a Thred Up purchased dress that arrived the same day as my box.  It's another Crown and Ivy dress - $14.99 (retail $48)
Here is a close up of what was sent to me.  I ended up keeping the C&I skirt, shorts and cardigan, and the LP shorts.  They take off my $10 shipping deposit from that total.  I will DEFINITELY be doing this again.  I might stop my Nadine West for a bit because they haven't nailed me in the last few boxes.
